Godsib -- Sister in God
This word was
once used to denote the female helpers who drew around a labouring
woman, helping her gather the courage to give birth. It evolved into
our modern word 'gossip' but originally had no negative connotations --
it just reflected the common spiritual journey of birthgiving and
parenthood.
